Tufted Titmouse

Baeolophus bicolor

A perky gray songbird with a jaunty crest, big black eyes, and peachy flanks, the Tufted Titmouse is a familiar sight at eastern feeders. Bold and curious, it announces itself with a clear, whistled 'peter-peter-peter' that carries through winter woods. It readily joins mixed flocks of chickadees and nuthatches.
