Red Junglefowl

The Red Junglefowl, ancestor of the domestic chicken, is a strikingly colorful gamebird with the rooster's glossy orange, gold, and iridescent green plumage. Native to the forests of Southeast Asia, it forages on the ground for seeds, insects, and fruit. First domesticated over 8,000 years ago, it gave rise to the world's most numerous bird species.
