One of the strangest birds alive, the Hoatzin of South American swamps has a spiky, punk-like crest, blue facial skin, and red eyes. Its digestive system ferments leaves like a ruminant, earning it the nickname "stinkbird." Remarkably, Hoatzin chicks are born with claws on their wings that help them climb through vegetation.
