North America's most common hawk, the Red-tailed Hawk is readily identified by its broad wings, rusty-red tail, and piercing scream that Hollywood uses as the stock raptor call. It soars over open fields, deserts, and roadsides across the continent. Highly adaptable, it hunts everything from mice to rabbits with its powerful talons.
