Pygmy Falcon
Polihierax semitorquatus
Africa's smallest raptor, the Pygmy Falcon is barely 20 centimeters long with blue-grey upperparts and a white face and underside. Found in dry savannas of eastern and southern Africa, it hunts insects and small lizards from exposed perches. It exclusively nests within the massive communal nests of Sociable Weavers, freeloading on their construction work.
