Aquila chrysaetos

Dark brown with a golden-bronze sheen on the back of its head and neck, the Golden Eagle is a massive raptor with a wingspan over seven feet. Found across the Northern Hemisphere in mountainous and open terrain, it is one of the fastest raptors in a dive. It hunts mammals as large as young deer and has been used in falconry for centuries.

Fun Fact

Golden Eagles can spot a rabbit from two miles away and dive at speeds over 150 mph.
