Often called the most beautiful bird in North America, the male Painted Bunting is a patchwork of vivid blue, green, and red plumage. It breeds in the southeastern United States and winters in Central America and the Caribbean. Despite its dazzling colors, it can be surprisingly hard to spot as it forages in dense brush.
