Ovenbird
Seiurus aurocapilla
Despite its name, the Ovenbird is a ground-dwelling warbler of eastern North American forests, not related to the South American ovenbirds. It has olive-brown upperparts, a boldly streaked breast, and a distinctive orange crown bordered by black stripes. Its loud, ringing "teacher-teacher-teacher" song echoes through deciduous woods in summer.
Fun Fact
The Ovenbird gets its name from its dome-shaped nest that looks like a Dutch oven.
