Japanese White-eye
Zosterops japonicus
A tiny, bright olive-green bird with a conspicuous white eye ring, the Japanese White-eye is native to East Asia and has been introduced to Hawaii and other Pacific islands. It flits energetically through gardens, orchards, and forest edges in search of nectar, fruit, and insects. Its soft, warbling song is a pleasant soundtrack in Japanese gardens.
Fun Fact
Japanese White-eyes have a distinctive white ring around their eye that gives them their name.
