Australia's largest kingfisher, the Laughing Kookaburra is stocky and brown with a massive head and bill, known worldwide for its raucous call that sounds eerily like human laughter. Found in woodlands and suburban areas across eastern Australia, it perches patiently before swooping on insects, lizards, and even small snakes. Family groups call together at dawn and dusk to defend their territory.
