Sporting a bright orange bill and a white patch behind each eye, the Gentoo Penguin is the fastest underwater swimmer of all penguins, reaching speeds of 22 mph. It breeds on sub-Antarctic islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. Unlike many penguins, Gentoos build nests from pebbles — a currency so valuable that theft is common.
