Emperor Penguin
Aptenodytes forsteri
The Emperor Penguin is the tallest and heaviest of all penguin species, standing nearly four feet tall with distinctive golden-yellow patches on its neck. Found exclusively in Antarctica, it endures the harshest winter on Earth. Males famously incubate eggs on their feet through months of polar darkness and blizzards.
Fun Fact
Emperor Penguins can dive to depths of 1,800 feet and hold their breath for over 20 minutes.
