The only bird whose bill is longer than its body (excluding the tail), the Sword-billed Hummingbird wields an extraordinary 10-centimeter bill to reach nectar deep inside long, tubular flowers. Found in cloud forests along the Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia, it must tilt its head back to perch comfortably. It coevolved with specific Passiflora and Datura flowers.
