Snow Goose
Anser caerulescens
Traveling in enormous, noisy flocks that can darken the sky, the Snow Goose breeds in Arctic tundra and winters across temperate North America. Most are brilliant white with black wingtips, though a blue morph sports dark plumage. Their populations have surged so dramatically that overgrazing is damaging fragile Arctic breeding habitats.
Fun Fact
Snow Goose populations have exploded so dramatically that they're destroying their own Arctic breeding habitat by overgrazing the tundra vegetation.
