The Mallard is the most widespread and recognizable duck in the world, with the male's iridescent green head and yellow bill being instantly familiar. Found across the Northern Hemisphere in nearly any wetland habitat, they're remarkably adaptable. Most domestic duck breeds descend from this single wild species.
