Harpy Eagle
Harpia harpyja
One of the world's largest and most powerful raptors, the Harpy Eagle has massive talons the size of grizzly bear claws and legs as thick as a human wrist. Found in tropical lowland rainforests from Mexico to Argentina, it snatches sloths and monkeys from the canopy at high speed. Its broad gray facial disk and double crest give it an intense, almost regal expression.
Fun Fact
The Harpy Eagle's talons are as large as grizzly bear claws and it can carry prey equal to its own body weight.
