Entirely glossy black with a distinctive ridged bill, the Groove-billed Ani is a communal cuckoo of tropical and subtropical Americas. Multiple females often lay eggs in a single shared nest, with the whole group helping to incubate and raise chicks. Found in open scrublands and pastures, it follows livestock to catch flushed insects.
