Barred Owl

A round-headed owl of mature forests and wooded swamps, the Barred Owl has soft brown-and-white plumage, no ear tufts, and deep brown eyes rather than the yellow of most owls. It hunts rodents, amphibians, and small animals, often near water. Its resonant, rhythmic hooting carries far on still nights.
