Magnificent Riflebird
Ptiloris magnificus
The male Magnificent Riflebird is a glossy black bird-of-paradise with an iridescent blue-green throat and breast that shimmers in the light. Found in the rainforests of New Guinea and northeastern Australia, the male performs a dramatic display, spreading his wings wide to form a dark cloak while swaying hypnotically. Females are brown with barred underparts.
Fun Fact
