Vermilion Flycatcher

The male Vermilion Flycatcher is a blaze of brilliant scarlet red against a dark brown mask and wings, making it one of the most eye-catching small birds in the Americas. Found in arid open habitats from the southwestern United States through South America, it hunts insects from exposed perches. Males perform a fluttering butterfly-like display flight during courtship.
