Great Frigatebird
Fregata minor
A master of aerial piracy, the Great Frigatebird harasses other seabirds into dropping their catch mid-flight. Males are glossy black with an inflatable red throat pouch they balloon spectacularly during courtship. Found across tropical oceans worldwide, it has the largest wingspan-to-body-weight ratio of any bird.
Fun Fact
Male frigatebirds inflate a bright red throat pouch like a balloon to attract mates.
